The 1719 Hans Herr House, Lancaster Co., Pa.'s oldest surviving structure, is the setting for this historical fiction about a young Mennonite girl. Eighteenth-century Susanna is assigned to churn butter, pump water, and grind herbs while wondering why she has not seen her mother all day. Full-color photos and text give a child's-eye view of what life may have been like in the Herr household in 18th-century Pennsylvania. Also available is the companion book Christian's Choice (item #3983). (32pp. full-color illus. Author, 2013.)
