The book begins with the plight of the persecuted Oberholtzers of the Anabaptist faith in Switzerland and follows their eventual immigration to Pennsylvania. Research provides detail for six successive generations of the Oberholtzer family in Lancaster Co., Pa., beginning with the 1727 immigrant Samuel Oberholtzer. Through the journals of Nathan Oberholtzer (1864-1923), one finds a good glimpse of Pennsylvania farm lifestyle and Mennonite church life related to that time period. (88pp. illus. index.
