This was originally published in two volumes, the first historical and the second biographical. The chapter titles describe the historical details of the first volume: Indian Inhabitants and First European Explorers, Settlements by the Swedes, Finns, Dutch, and English, Colonial Government Before the Arrival of Penn, The Revolutionary War, County Formation and Political History. Subsequent chapters deal with Delaware County's Townships and Boroughs, and cover its agricultural, industrial, medical, legal, educational, and religious aspects. The second volume contains dozens of biographies of important persons and families from the Delaware County region. This is a nice addition to the earlier biographical volumes of the county, covering men of note who were overlooked and also ones from a more recent generation.
