Featuring the architecture found at the dawn of the nineteenth century, this book highlights a grand and historic brick structure called Middlekauff Manor. It also recognizes water colorist, Johannes Bard (Bart), and two outstanding stonemasons, G. E. Crowel and Sebastian Heafer. Dwelling houses from Arendtsville, Aspers, Biglerville, Gardners and Littlestown are pictured and described. An extensive history of the Quakers in Adams County and their progenitors from Ireland, Holland and Wales are discussed, as well as the earliest land warrants issued by prominent Maryland families in modern-day Adams County. Finally, Conewago Chapel is presented to the reader in photographs and within the context of Roman Catholic presence in the lower townships of Adams County. This is Book 4 in a 4-volume series.
