Historic Architecture of Adams County, Pennsylvania: Book 1

James J. Fritz

  • 2995

This book not only traces the early history of Adams County, but also provides many colorful photographs of historic markers, tombstones, as well as homes and barns of the recipients of awards from Historic Gettysburg-Adams County who have demonstrated their passion for architectural preservation. The author describes the architectural features of each house or barn and gives ethnic and historical explanations that help to identify the dwelling’s heritage. Awardees in the following towns are presented: Abbottstown, Hanover, East Berlin, and New Oxford. Every community needs to preserve their architectural heritage for posterity as well as for their county’s history. This is Book 1 in a 4-volume series. (156pp. full-color illus.
