In the Shadow of Mt. Zion and Buchland School

Jacob Esh

  • 1599

The author’s life story begins at the one-room Buchland Schoolhouse in the Narvon area of Lancaster Co., Pa., with Mrs. Mabel Geiger as teacher; then continues through adulthood with his years spent in Vermont. He gives such a detailed daily description of life in an Amish family that you learn to know his family like you are a part of it yourself. In 1975, the author with the help of his wife, Lorraine, and their sons, Christian and Timothy, and many friends struggled to start a Christian bookstore. This book was written with the hope that the same Lord that he serves may be precious to the reader. Frequent surnames: Beiler, Esh, Fisher, King, Lapp, Martin, Stoltzfus, Zook. (352pp. index. Author, 2015.)
