Thomas Sutcliffe (b. Apr. 10, 1821), son of Richard and Sally Pickels Sutcliffe of Raw Royd, Wadsworth, Yorkshire, England, married Ellen Towne (b. July 22, 1834) and had three children: Emma, Ellen, and Alfred. Between 1865 and 1870 the family settled in Hummelstown, Derry Twp., Pa.
