Tom Lyons: The Indian Among the Amish

Tom Lyons: The Indian Among the Amish

Wayne R. Miller

  • 799

When the first Amish settlers moved into the Sugarcreek and Walnut Creek Valleys of Tuscarawas and Holmes Counties, Ohio, they soon met up with an old Native American named Tom Lyons. He is infamous, among the Amish, for his participation in the Jacob Hochstetler cabin attack of 1757. However, the author has newly discovered evidence that refutes that claim, and adds it to the growing list of legends attached to Tom Lyons’ name. (88pp. color illus. Author, 2017.)
