William Woys Weaver

  • 3500

These stories are creative adaptations of traditional folk tales brought to life by a culinary legend and master in the art of storytelling. Peppered with Pennsylvania Dutch language expressions, and a generous portion of regionally-specific folk-cultural traditions, Weaver's writing is helping to keep the old stories vibrant for new generations to enjoy. Some story titles include: The Blue Egg, The Brunnmemmi, Thieves' Vinegar, Brutzelmemmi's Chair, Prince of the Silver Arrow, etc. (200pp. illus. index. hardcover. Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center, 2022.)

Folk Tales of the PA Dutch

Any books written by William Woys Weaver and Patrick Donmoyer are always excellent. Patrick Donmoyer is a subject matter expert and a pure and true wealth of knowledge with anything Pennsylvania Dutch related. I also consider William Woys Weaver of the same caliber from what I’ve read to date. Any and all publications from both of these authors are a must have. If you value historical truth and validity there is none better than these authors in my opinion. This book any any others from these authors are certainly worth the small purchase price for the quality and unbiased knowledge you will gain. 5 stars are not even close to how high this and their other publications should be rated. These authors set the standard for all PA Dutch related publications. A very high standard at that. Buy this book and any other books you can purchase from William Woys Weaver and Patrick Donmoyer. You’ll be happy that you did.
