Jonathan is the son of Jacob S. Shirk (Jan. 27, 1828-Feb. 2, 1896), the gt.-gt.-grandson of Ulrich Shirk who came to America in 1728, and Anna Weber (Aug. 1, 1828-Jan. 11, 1919).
