Documented and annotated documents transcribed from The Southern Claims Commission Records, 1871-1880 are printed in this third volume covering Bridgewater, Dayton and surrounding area, and Rockingham Co., Va. They deal with the bitterly fought conflict which convulsed the U.S. in the mid-nineteenth century telling the day-to-day stress of hardship, emotional turmoil, danger, and sacrifice which the civilian population of the Shenandoah Valley experienced from 1861-1864.
