The Luther-Bible of Christian Kämmerer the Dilherr Edition
Christian Kammerer arrived in America on the ship Duke of Wirtemburg in 1751, and brought with him a Bible that was handed down through the generations to today. It features Luther's 50 Prefaces in Luther's own words describing certain Books of the Bible. Also contained within the covers of this book is an English translation of Johann Michael Dilherr's Preface, biographies of 11 Barons of the Ernstinian Wettiner Line, Luther's biography, and also included are English translations for subscripts and superscripts of 144 woodcut pictures that were created on the newly invented printing press. Full-page copies of copper-engraved pictures appear in chronological order. Coupling together all of this information is a well-written journal chronicling the printing and publishing of this and many other Bibles of the time spanning Luther's lifetime through the late 1800's. (611pp. illus. Author, 2006.)
A hardcover version (item #3190) is also available.
