Growing Up Dutch: Memories of a Mennonite Childhood

Enos S. Weaver

  • 1200

Enos S. Weaver, son of Reuben and Annie Martin (Shirk) Weaver, grew up speaking Pennsylvania Dutch; riding in horse-drawn buggies; working on farms with hand tools, no electricity, and old-fashioned equipment; and adhering to a non-worldly lifestyle as one of the “plain people” in the 1950s and 1960s on the Maple Grove homestead in Mohnton, Pa. The author started writing down his favorite childhood memories, but then also included other family members’ contributions as well. (123pp. illus. Author, 2020.)
