Mug reads: Probably the most popular motif used by the Pennsylvania Dutch artists and craftsmen, was the tulip. Stylized and in many forms it was used on a practically all types of decorated objects, such as pottery, furniture, painted tin, birth certificates, hooked rugs, iron work, textiles and needlework. It's popularity with the "Dutch" probably stems from the fact that it symbolized the Trinity in religious art.
