Three thousand Wittel/Wittle descendants are scattered throughout the U.S. today. This genealogy traces brothers Jacob and Michael Wittel and their families who arrived in Philadelphia aboard the ship Fair American on Oct. 26, 1805, and settled in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. Wittels still live in Lancaster Co. today, while others moved to Ohio and Ind. and intermarried with Bashore, Brandt, Bretz, Brosey, Garber, Geib, Greiner, Hartman, Horst, Snyder, Spangler, and Weachter, among others.
