Ebbes weeich die Watzelkinner: The Tale of the Root Children - Edition Tintenfass

Ebbes weeich die Watzelkinner: The Tale of the Root Children

translated by Walter and Nadine Sauer

  • 1200

Sibylle von Olfers’ children’s book Etwas von den Wurzelkindern (1906) is one of the best known German picture books. Its lasting popularity as a children’s classic in Germany can easily be compared with that of Mother Goose’s Nursery Rhymes, Alice in Wonderland or Peter Rabbit in English-speaking countries. Nadine and Walter Sauer have now translated the rhymed verse for the first time as a bilingual Pennsylvania Dutch and English edition. (32pp. full-color illus. Masthof Press, reprint 2021.)
